Flights cancelled as Middle East tensions force airspace closures, OFWs urged to check updates

Several commercial flights in and out of Dubai and the Northern Emirates have been suspended amid escalating regional tensions that led to the closure of airspace over Iran, Israel, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai announced.

Filipino travelers, especially Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), are strongly urged to verify flight statuses with their respective airlines following a wave of cancellations affecting major carriers operating in the region.

Affected airlines and flight suspensions:

Emirates has suspended all flights to Jordan and Lebanon until June 22, 2025, and to Iran and Iraq until June 30, 2025.

Flydubai has halted services to Iran, Iraq, Israel, and Syria until June 30, 2025.

Air Arabia, operating out of Sharjah, has cancelled flights to Jordan and Russia until June 20, 2025, and to Iran and Iraq until June 30, 2025.

MWO Dubai advises OFWs who are booked or transiting through any of these affected countries to coordinate with their airline carriers before heading to the airport. Passengers who are stranded due to flight cancellations are also encouraged to check with their airlines and respective recruitment agencies (FRAs/PRAs) for alternative routes or return flights to Manila.

MWO Dubai said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and assist affected passengers. Those in need of help may reach out via the following hotlines:
