San Juan City officially recognized as 100% drug-free by PDEA

San Juan City was formally honored by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for achieving full drug-cleared status in all its barangays—an achievement that underscores the city’s consistent commitment to a drug-free community.

The Certificate of Recognition was awarded to Mayor Francis Zamora on June 19 at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, during the Regional Peace and Order Council-NCR’s second Full Council Meeting. The citation was handed over by PDEA-NCR Regional Director Emerson Rosales, in the presence of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla.

This recognition followed the stringent validation process conducted by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing, composed of PDEA, DILG, the Philippine National Police, and the Department of Health. San Juan had already met the requirement of having all barangays declared drug-cleared as early as 2023, laying the groundwork for its citywide status.

In an Inquirer.net report, Mayor Zamora expressed deep appreciation to all sectors involved in the city’s anti-drug campaign, including barangay leaders, the San Juan Police, the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and residents. He noted that while the recognition is a milestone, the real work continues.

“Our mission doesn’t stop here,” Zamora emphasized, affirming San Juan’s continued focus on law enforcement, community-based rehabilitation, and education to sustain its drug-free status.
