OFW families in Dubai receive free vaccines and medical aid on Children’s Day

In a heartwarming effort to mark International Children’s Day, the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Dubai carried out a dedicated vaccination drive for undocumented Filipino children on June 1, 2025. The initiative, held in partnership with OWWA and Grand Infinity Medical Center, aimed to serve families whose repatriation documents are still in process and who often struggle to access medical care.

The program directly addressed the urgent health needs of OFW families under the Assistance to Nationals Section of MWO Dubai. Due to their undocumented status, many of the children have been excluded from routine immunizations in both public and private facilities. This mission ensured they were not left behind.

Twenty-nine children received vaccinations, while 22 parents underwent medical check-ups at Grand Infinity’s clinic in Muhaisnah 4. The day also included a basic childcare orientation for the parents, as well as the distribution of food packs, gift items, and financial aid under the AKSYON Fund.

Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, who personally attended the event, reaffirmed the Philippine government’s commitment to protecting the welfare of OFWs and their families. “We will make sure our kababayans receive access to healthcare and proper documentation—whatever their status,” he stressed.

Other officials who joined the initiative included Consul General Marford Angeles, Undersecretaries Felicitas Q. Bay and Jainal T. Rasul, Vice-Consul Aleah Marie B. Gica, and Director Julyn Ambito Fermin.

This effort follows a Memorandum of Agreement signed last February between MWO Dubai and Grand Infinity Medical Center to broaden healthcare access for Filipino migrants in the UAE.
