More than 140 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Nueva Vizcaya have received a total of P2.6 million in financial assistance from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), aimed at helping them rebuild their lives after returning home or facing hardship abroad.
According to a PIA report, the aid was released under several OWWA programs, including Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay; the OFW Dependents Scholarship Program; Skills for Employment Scholarship Program (SESP); Emergncy Repatriation and Medical Assistance; and the Special Livelihood Program.
OWWA Regional Director Virsie Tamayao led the distribution ceremony, joined by Dolly Rose Minas, manager of the Public Employment Service Division under the Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya.
Tamayao confirmed that the financial aid granted to each beneficiary ranged between P5,000 and P20,000, depending on the program. “The financial assistance ranged from P5,000 to P20,000 under OWWA programs,” she said.
She also shared that a grieving family of a deceased OFW received P120,000 in death benefits.
Tamayao emphasized that these forms of assistance reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to support OFWs and their families, especially during reintegration and recovery from challenging situations.
