In Argao, Cebu, a 75-year-old man sustained injuries after being repeatedly struck with a monobloc chair by his own son, who admitted to losing his temper during a confrontation.
According to GMA Regional TV’s Saksi, the son claimed he was roused from sleep by his father’s yelling. Frustrated by the elder’s constant scolding over alleged drug use, the suspect lashed out violently. He insisted he was no longer involved with illegal substances.
“I’m not sorry for what happened because I don’t like how he’s acting,” the son bluntly told reporters in Cebuano.
The elderly victim is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Meanwhile, his son remains in police custody and is facing charges of serious physical injury. Authorities have yet to confirm whether substance abuse played a role in the incident.
