Qatar has declared a five-day break in celebration of Eid Al Adha, starting on the ninth day of Dhu Al Hijjah—known as Arafah Day—after the country’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, signed off on the Cabinet’s approved holiday schedule.
The announcement, published in Qatar’s Official Gazette, confirms that all ministries, public agencies, and government institutions will observe the Eid holiday from Dhu Al Hijjah 9 to 13.
The Gazette also detailed other national holidays for the year, including Eid Al Fitr, during which public sector workers will receive leave from the 28th of Ramadan to the end of Shawwal 4. Qatar National Day on December 18 continues to be a fixed public holiday.
In addition, the directive ensures that any working day that falls between two official holidays will be considered part of the time off, and weekends that coincide with official holidays will also be included.
