Olympic icon inspires handwoven logo for Palarong Pambansa in Ilocos Norte

In a heartfelt tribute to Filipino heritage and athletic excellence, the official logo for the 65th Palarong Pambansa has been meticulously woven by Inabel artisans Jeanette Rico and Mary Ann Caoagas from Barangay Nalasin, Paoay, Ilocos Norte. This emblem draws inspiration from the iconic Olympic pose of Teofilo Yldefonso, the first Filipino to secure an Olympic medal.

Yldefonso, an Ilocano swimmer, earned bronze medals in the 200-meter breaststroke at both the 1928 Amsterdam and 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. His achievements have long symbolized national pride and perseverance. By incorporating his image into the Palarong Pambansa logo, the design bridges the nation’s rich sporting history with its vibrant cultural traditions.
