Ex-boyfriend nabbed in QC for threatening to leak private video and hurt woman’s family

A man in Quezon City has been arrested after allegedly threatening to release an intimate video of his former partner and harm her family if she refused to get back together with him.

According to the National Bureau of Investigation–Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-OTCD), the victim filed a complaint after receiving multiple threatening messages from the suspect. Their relationship reportedly began in 2024, but it ended after the woman discovered he had another partner while abroad.

Unbeknownst to her, their sexual encounters were secretly recorded.

“Consensual naman ‘yung kanilang sexual relations. In the process, hindi alam nitong babae na nire-record pala ‘yung kanilang mga sexual activities,” NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin stated in an ABS-CBN News report.

After returning to the Philippines, the man allegedly tried to pressure his former partner into resuming their relationship. When she refused, he threatened to release their sex video and harm her loved ones.

“Pinipilit niya, tinatakot niya, at ilalabas ‘yung kanilang video kung hindi siya makipagbalikan. There is also a threat not only to the woman, but also to the family of the woman,” Lavin added.

NBI agents immediately launched an entrapment operation and arrested the suspect at a coffee shop. His device contained explicit videos of the victim.

Though he did not directly admit to the allegations, the suspect expressed remorse.

“Kung ano man ‘yung nasabi ko at nagawa ko… at sa pamilya mo at sa mga taong nadamay, humihingi ako ng kapatawaran,” he said, adding, “Sobrang pinagsisihan ko at pinagbabayaran ko naman kung ano ‘yung dapat kong pagbayaran.”

He now faces charges for violating the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act and the Cybercrime Prevention Act, specifically on violence and exploitation of women.
