Marcos vows to defend Philippine sovereignty, praises Navy’s role in 2025 elections

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday delivered a strong message asserting the Philippines’ position on sovereignty, vowing that the country will not yield to any form of disrespect or external pressure.

“We will never tolerate any act of disrespect against our sovereignty,” Marcos declared during the 127th anniversary celebration of the Philippine Navy, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to protect the country’s territorial rights.

He assured Filipinos that his government will not back down: “Wala tayong isusuko, wala tayong pababayaan.”

Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines’ adherence to international law and diplomacy, saying the country remains committed to acting as a responsible member of the global community. “We reaffirm our commitment to being a responsible member of the international community engaging in all matters diplomatically and upholding the established principles under international law,” he said.

The President also underscored the administration’s ongoing push to modernize and strengthen the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to ensure readiness for future challenges.

He further praised the Navy for its contribution to the successful and peaceful conduct of Eleksyon 2025, especially in high-risk areas, with over 1,800 personnel deployed to secure the electoral process. “They played a key role in ensuring its safe and orderly conduct… also securing our democracy,” he noted.
