Jimmy Bondoc to critics: Stop targeting Sara Duterte, allow Digong to return

Singer and lawyer Jimmy Bondoc has called for former President Rodrigo Duterte to be allowed to return to the Philippines and urged critics to stop targeting Vice President Sara Duterte.

Bondoc, who recently lost in his bid for a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections, made his appeal in a lengthy Facebook post. While he accepted his electoral defeat, Bondoc emphasized that his commitment to the nation’s well-being remains strong.

“There are no words sufficient to express my gratitude to God and to the people for this opportunity,” Bondoc began in his heartfelt message. “Elections are temporary battles, but the true fight is defending our nation against evil.”

He expressed his hope for more constructive discourse in the country, criticizing the tendency for public discussions to descend into hostility. Bondoc also highlighted the dangers of misinformation and manipulation, which he believes have deepened divisions among Filipinos.

In a direct plea to those in power, Bondoc wrote: “Let’s allow Digong (Duterte) to come home. And please, let’s stop targeting Sara. This is not just a personal matter. This is for the nation.”
