UAE residents can look forward to at least nine more holidays this year

UAE residents can look forward to at least nine more public holidays in 2025, following the UAE Cabinet’s announcement of a total of 12 official public holidays for the year, pending confirmation based on moon sightings.

The next long weekend to anticipate is for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, with a four-day break expected in early June. Arafat Day is predicted to fall on Thursday, June 5, followed by Eid Al Adha from Friday, June 6, to Sunday, June 8. The extended break aligns with the weekend, offering residents a much-anticipated respite.

Another highlight this year is the introduction of a new rule allowing certain public holidays falling on weekends to be moved to the start of the week, ensuring a full day off for workers. However, this rule does not apply to Eid Al Fitr or Eid Al Adha, which remain fixed based on Islamic traditions.

Other upcoming public holidays include Islamic New Year on Thursday, June 26, the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH) on Friday, September 5, and National Day on Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3.

With the possibility of additional days off depending on the length of Ramadan, UAE residents can expect multiple chances to enjoy quality time with family and friends throughout the year.
