The senatorial campaign of former DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos gained another boost after comedian and TV host Vice Ganda voiced support for him on social media.
On Saturday, May 3, Vice Ganda shared a short video on Facebook expressing her endorsement for Abalos, saying, “Kesa naman ‘yong mga walang kuwenta ang pumasok sa Top 12, dito na ako #1 Abalos, Benhur.”
The post quickly went viral, prompting a flood of reactions from netizens. While some welcomed Vice Ganda’s support, others criticized her choice, with some questioning Abalos’ track record and policies.
Critics pointed out past issues such as the implementation of controversial local ordinances and urged the comedian to back first-time candidates instead of traditional politicians.
Vice Ganda now joins a growing list of personalities backing Abalos, including comedienne Ai Ai Delas Alas and former Vice President Leni Robredo.
