A 20-year-old delivery rider tragically died after collapsing while queuing for financial assistance at the Marikina Sports Center on Monday.
According to Capt. Julius Criste of the Marikina police, the young man suddenly lost consciousness while waiting in line and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival around 5 p.m.
According to a Philstar.com report, initial findings from medical personnel revealed that the man had no pulse and exhibited dilated pupils upon arrival at the hospital.
Authorities clarified that there was no overcrowding or commotion at the venue. “The line of beneficiaries was not that long,” Criste explained, noting that conditions at the site were orderly during the payout.
The victim’s identity has not been publicly released. His family, believing the death was due to natural causes, has opted not to pursue an investigation.
