Palace debunks fake memo on Marcos ratings and Romualdez removal

Malacañang has denied the authenticity of a circulating document that allegedly called for aggressive measures to improve President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s public ratings and suggested the ousting of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

The Palace clarified that the memorandum—purportedly signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin—is entirely fabricated.

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro urged the public to remain cautious. “It’s fake news. It’s fake, so huwag niyo na pagkaabalahan ‘yan,” she stressed, warning Filipinos not to fall for unofficial or unverified documents.

She added that the spread of false information, especially through digital means, remains rampant. “Huwag po tayong basta maniniwala sa mga dokumentong nagkakalat-kalat. Tandaan natin, uso ngayon ang fake news,” Castro emphasized.

The Palace reiterated its commitment to transparency and called on the public to verify information through official government channels.
