Get ready: UAE’s next public holiday is almost here

UAE residents are already looking ahead to the next long weekend. The next anticipated public holiday is Arafat Day, expected to fall on Thursday, June 5, though official confirmation will come closer to the date.

This will be immediately followed by Eid Al Adha, projected to take place from Friday, June 6, to Sunday, June 8, offering a potential extended break for many workers across the country.

Public holiday dates in the UAE often remain tentative until shortly before they happen. This is because the Islamic, or Hijri, calendar—based on lunar cycles—differs from the solar-based Gregorian calendar. As a result, Islamic holidays shift slightly every year, depending on the moon’s sighting, with each Hijri month lasting either 29 or 30 days.

For now, residents are advised to keep an eye out for official announcements as the dates draw nearer.
