Philippine Airlines (PAL) is ushering in a new chapter in its leadership with the appointment of Richard Nuttall as its new president, effective May 29.
Nuttall, who previously led Sri Lankan Airlines as CEO and helped steer it back to operational profitability, will be taking over from Captain Stanley K. Ng. Ng, in turn, will transition to his new role as vice president of PAL Holdings Inc.
PAL Holdings President Lucio Tan III said Nuttall’s appointment aligns with their long-term plans to strengthen the company’s international presence. “As President, he will play an active role in bringing a global dimension to the Heart of the Filipino, and I look forward to working closely with him in the days and months ahead,” Tan said.
Apart from his success in Sri Lanka’s flag carrier, Nuttall was also a board member of the SkyTeam Alliance, where he worked on streamlining decision-making and boosting collaboration among member airlines.
“The airline has accomplished so much in recent years, and I look forward to building on that progress as we explore new avenues for growth,” Nuttall said in a statement.
PAL recently reported a net income of ₱10.01 billion in 2024, reflecting its continued financial recovery and growth momentum.
