A special cultural event aimed at empowering neurodivergent youth through art and heritage will be held in Dubai on April 27, 2025, as part of the Philippine Consulate General’s Labindalawa campaign.
Titled “Ausome Baybayin: Preserving Culture and Nurturing Neurodivergent Creativity,” the initiative is organized in partnership with the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Ausome Family Journey. The event will take place at ABLE UK in Dubai Healthcare City and will feature a Baybayin calligraphy workshop led by Filipino artist Gino Banola.
Baybayin, an ancient Filipino script from pre-colonial times, will be used as a creative tool to support children on the autism spectrum. The activity is designed to help participants express themselves while also enhancing their fine motor skills and cultural awareness.
“This program is not just about teaching a script—it’s about helping children and families find meaningful ways to connect with their heritage and with each other,” the organizers said.
The workshop also includes an introduction to the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower initiative, promoting broader visibility and inclusion of people with hidden disabilities in the Filipino community across the UAE.
