Dusty weather and strong winds sweep across UAE, prompting safety warnings

Dust storms and strong winds disrupted parts of the UAE on Tuesday morning, leading to safety alerts from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) and local authorities.

The weather bureau flagged Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Fujairah, and parts of Dubai and Sharjah as affected areas, warning of reduced visibility caused by blowing dust. In some locations, visibility dropped to as low as 100 meters.

Abu Dhabi Police reminded motorists to drive cautiously and avoid distractions, especially filming or using phones while on the road.

Wind speeds ranged from 15 to 25 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 40 km/h. Dusty and hazy skies are expected to persist throughout the day, with conditions likely improving by 6pm.

Daytime temperatures hovered between 30°C and 38°C, while humidity could spike up to 90 per cent at night, increasing the chances of fog in coastal and inland areas.

The NCM also warned that the sea will remain rough until evening, urging residents to avoid beach activities for the day.
