Former Senator Bam Aquino is proposing to raise the salary of nurses in public hospitals to Salary Grade 20, which amounts to over P50,000 per month, as part of his legislative agenda should he return to the Senate.
The proposal aims to improve the welfare of nurses and strengthen the country’s healthcare system by offering competitive compensation to discourage migration for better-paying jobs abroad.
Aquino had earlier championed the implementation of Salary Grade 15 for public hospital nurses during his first term. His current plan builds on that initiative by further increasing pay and improving retention rates in the health sector.
He also intends to expand the coverage of free college education and ensure that students receive government-provided allowances. Additionally, his platform includes job creation programs targeting unemployed and out-of-school youth.
