“Pinoy Big Brother” Gen 11 alums Sofia “Fyang” Smith and JM Ibarra are stepping into a new milestone as voice cast members in the upcoming Tagalized version of the South Korean film Picnic.
The casting announcement was made on March 26 via Nathan Studios’ official social media pages. Joining them are veteran actors Nova Villa, Ces Quesada, and Bodjie Pascua. The Filipino-dubbed film is set for release in local cinemas this May.
Originally a Korean box office hit, Picnic follows the story of 80-year-old Eun Sim, who returns to her hometown after more than six decades and reconnects with her lifelong friends. The heartwarming film stars acclaimed Korean actors Na Moon-hee, Kim Young-ok, and Park Geun-hyung.
The upcoming Filipino version marks Smith and Ibarra’s first official big screen project, following their appearance in Regine Velasquez’s music video “Wherever You Are” last January. Their tandem, which began on PBB Gen 11, has since gained a strong following.
Earlier this year, the pair also performed at The Filipino Channel’s Barrio Fiesta Dubai 2025 at Zabeel Park, where they shared the stage with stars like Darren Espanto and Morissette Amon. While in Dubai, Smith and Ibarra took time to explore the city’s scenic desert landscapes and shared glimpses of their trip online.
