Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Goldmedalist, has confirmed that the actor was previously in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron but clarified that their romance began only after she became an adult.
In a statement released earlier than planned on March 14, Goldmedalist addressed growing speculation, refuting claims that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron while she was a minor. “It is not true that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron when she was underage,” the agency stated, explaining that their relationship lasted from the summer of 2019, when she legally became an adult, until the fall of 2020.
The agency also challenged claims made by the media outlet HoverLab, which alleged that photos showed the two dating in 2016. Goldmedalist provided metadata and timeline details to prove that all images were taken after Kim Sae-ron had turned 18.
Additionally, the agency denied accusations that they pressured Kim Sae-ron to repay 700 million won (approximately $481,300). They asserted that the financial matters between them were handled lawfully and that Kim Soo-hyun was never personally involved in debt collection.
The statement also addressed concerns over the actor’s mental well-being, revealing that he has been struggling with “severe psychological instability” amid the ongoing scrutiny. Goldmedalist condemned the invasion of his privacy and urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation.
The agency further denounced reports linking Kim Soo-hyun to Kim Sae-ron’s tragic passing, calling them “unreasonable and malicious speculation.” They emphasized that while public figures are subject to scrutiny, baseless rumors only add to the emotional distress of those involved.
