Former Senate President Franklin Drilon has officially thrown his support behind the Senate comeback bids of former senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and Bam Aquino.
Drilon, who served 24 years in the Senate, endorsed the two during a press conference ahead of their campaign event in Iloilo City on Thursday, March 6.
“I fully endorse and ask for your help to support Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino. If there are people qualified to be in the Senate, it’s them,” said Drilon, an Iloilo native. “They can go head-to-head with anyone based on their past performance.”
Both Pangilinan and Aquino have a strong voter base in Iloilo. Pangilinan led the province during his 2022 vice-presidential run, while Aquino ranked third in Iloilo during his 2019 senatorial bid.
Pangilinan is running under the Liberal Party, while Aquino is with the Katipunan ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino Party.
