Willie Revillame promises free tablets, better internet for provincial students

Senatorial hopeful Willie Revillame vowed to prioritize education support by providing free tablets and improved internet access to students in far-flung areas if elected in the 2025 polls.

During his livestream on Wednesday, the television host said he aims to help learners in the provinces who continue to struggle with online research and school requirements due to the lack of gadgets and stable internet.

“Ibibigay ko na lang yun pag pinalad lalong lalo na sa mga probinsiya. Hihingi ako ng mga tablet para makapag research kayo at sa mga bata, nakakapagreview,” Revillame said.

He added that aside from distributing devices, he also plans to coordinate with telecommunication companies to address connectivity problems in schools without wifi.

“Pag ako nag wagi, yung mga eskwelahan na walang wifi, yun ang iwoworkout natin sa mga telco,” he added.

Aside from his education plans, Revillame also raised the need to combat the spread of fake news through legislation that would hold accountable those proven to intentionally spread false information.

“Basta may fake news kang ginawa at na prove na fake news, dapat meron kang kalalagyan. Dapat may puuntahan ka at mananagot ka. Paninira sa kapwa yan eh,” he said.

Meanwhile, fellow senatorial candidate Gringo Honasan extended his greetings to the Muslim community as they observe Ramadan, while broadcaster Ben Tulfo met with tricycle drivers in Pampanga to hear out their daily struggles and offer support.
