An Asian man has been sentenced to one month in jail, fined AED 700, and will be deported after being found guilty of stealing an electric scooter near a gym in Dubai Silicon Oasis.
According to a Gulf Today report, the incident happened last March when an Arab man reported his electric scooter missing after leaving it parked in its usual spot near his workplace. After searching the area and failing to locate it, he alerted the authorities.
Police reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect, who was seen leaving a nearby fast food restaurant before using a tool to unlock the scooter and flee. He was later arrested and admitted to the theft during questioning.
The Dubai Misdemeanor Court issued the verdict, ordering the man’s imprisonment, fine, and deportation after serving his sentence.
