Pasay court clears Neri Naig-Miranda in syndicated estafa case

A Pasay court has dismissed the syndicated estafa complaint filed against actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda over her alleged involvement in an investment scheme linked to a skincare clinic.

Naig’s legal counsel, Aureli Sinsuat, welcomed the ruling, saying the actress was “falsely accused” in the case involving Dermacare-Beyond Skin Care Solutions.

The complaint accused Naig of encouraging people to invest in the clinic, which reportedly offered high returns without proper authorization from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Naig’s husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, previously clarified that his wife served only as an endorser and was not involved in the company’s financial operations.

“Endorser lang siya, tapos ginamit ‘yung face niya to get investors,” Miranda wrote on Facebook, adding that none of the invested money went to Neri.

According to the SEC, Dermacare, led by COO Chanda Atienza and finance manager Venus Eunice Gonda, offered “franchise partner agreements” promising a 12.6 percent quarterly return for five years. However, the agency confirmed the business lacked the required license to solicit investments from the public.
