A practice driving session in Minglanilla, Cebu ended tragically when an 8-year-old girl was fatally run over by a cement truck after falling from a motorcycle driven by her uncle on Monday night, February 24, 2025.
According to a report from GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, the child, a Cebu City resident, was visiting her grandmother during the long weekend for the city’s Charter Day celebration. Her 34-year-old uncle took her along for practice driving on their newly acquired motorcycle without informing her mother.
Investigations by the Minglanilla Traffic Commission led by Glenn Antigua revealed that the uncle lost control, causing the motorcycle to fall. The child was thrown onto the road and tragically crushed by an oncoming cement truck, dying immediately at the scene.
The truck driver apologized, explaining he had no chance to avoid the accident. The victim’s mother accepted that it was an accident and decided not to press charges, asking only for assistance with funeral expenses.
