An SUV bearing an “Office of the President” sticker crashed into a post along Taft Avenue in Manila early Wednesday, injuring a motorcyclist in the process.
According to a GMA News Online report, citing the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the accident occurred just after midnight. The SUV, driven by a Chinese national, reportedly hit a roadside post, and the impact also involved a nearby motorcycle rider.
Both the front and rear of the SUV were heavily damaged, while the motorcycle sustained severe damage to its front end. Emergency responders treated the injured motorcyclist at the scene before transporting him to a hospital. The SUV driver sustained minor scratches on his arm.
Authorities suspect the SUV driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the incident, although an official investigation is still ongoing. The Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit has taken the driver into custody.
Officials are also verifying the authenticity of the “Office of the President” sticker displayed on the SUV. When asked for a comment, the driver repeatedly apologized, saying only, “Sorry, sorry.”
