Willie Revillame open to being senator-judge if Sara Duterte faces impeachment

TV host and senatorial candidate Willie Revillame has expressed openness to serving as a senator-judge should an impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte take place in the 20th Congress.

In an Inquirer.net report, Revillame acknowledged that he has yet to review the impeachment charges against Duterte but assured the public that he would uphold the law in his decision-making.

“If she is guilty, then I will vote accordingly. If she is not, then she’s not guilty,” he said.

Revillame, who currently ranks between seventh and 13th place in the senatorial race with 41.9% voter support, maintains his independence in politics. Despite previously receiving Duterte’s endorsement, he clarified, “I am affiliated with the Filipino people. I am not aligned with any party or government group.”

He also highlighted his unique campaign approach, emphasizing direct engagement with the public rather than traditional rallies. “I don’t even use stages. I just mingle with the people,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has partnered with major mall operators to use their establishments as voting centers for the upcoming May 12 elections. A total of 42 branches of SM, Robinsons, Megaworld, and Ayala malls across Metro Manila and other cities will serve as polling stations.

Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia said the shift away from schools aims to improve voter experience by providing air-conditioned venues, minimizing security concerns, and ensuring a more organized voting process.
