Emirati astronaut AlNeyadi to return to UAE next week after historic space mission

UAE’s hero astronaut, Sultan AlNeyadi, is scheduled to return to his homeland on September 18, following a historic mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS), the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has announced.

AlNeyadi, who arrived back on Earth earlier this month, will be welcomed home after completing the longest Arab space mission ever recorded.

His stellar achievement also saw him becoming the first Arab astronaut to conduct a spacewalk during his six-month tenure aboard the ISS.

The monumental mission was undertaken in collaboration with his Crew-6 mates — NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, along with Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

The Crew-6 team successfully returned to Earth, making a safe splashdown in the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida. The momentous event occurred at 8:17 am UAE time last Monday.

During their remarkable 186-day expedition in space, the crew conducted a series of experiments and research, contributing valuable insights to our understanding of space and adding a golden chapter to space exploration history.
