Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac met with Filipino groups in Saudi Arabia on January 31, 2025, to discuss the concerns of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). The town hall meeting, held in Riyadh, aimed to strengthen government efforts in protecting OFWs’ rights and welfare.
Chargé d’Affaires Rommel Romato of the Philippine Embassy joined Secretary Cacdac in reassuring the community of the government’s commitment to providing better opportunities for Filipinos both abroad and in the Philippines. The initiative aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that OFWs feel protected, valued, and employed with dignity.
Saudi Arabia remains a top destination for Filipino workers, with approximately 898,014 OFWs in the kingdom as of October 2024, according to the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
