Filipino-owned supermarket launches relief efforts for wildfire-affected families in Los Angeles

A Filipino-owned supermarket has stepped up to support Filipino Americans and local communities affected by recent wildfires in Los Angeles, California. According to an Inquirer.net report, the grocery chain Island Pacific Supermarket, founded by Niño Jefferson Lim, is providing aid to impacted families and extending gratitude to First Responders.

Through its social media channels, Island Pacific announced its donation of thousands of essential supplies, including food and water, to wildfire-stricken areas. Additionally, the supermarket is offering free meals to First Responders at select branches from January 10 to 13, including locations in Granada Hills, Santa Clarita, Canoga Park, Los Angeles, West Covina, Long Beach, Cerritos, and Lake Forest.

“Island Pacific stands in solidarity with our brave First Responders who risk their lives to protect our communities. Enjoy a meal on us—it’s the least we can do during these challenging times,” the company shared in an Instagram post.

The relief efforts also encourage community involvement, with volunteers invited to sign up through a form on the store’s official Facebook page. Island Pacific expressed appreciation to the SoCal Filipinos community for their partnership in the Bayanihan Relief Efforts, which have successfully delivered thousands of essential items to the LA Regional Food Bank for broader distribution.

“Together, we can make a meaningful difference for those in need,” the supermarket said.
