Man dies on his birthday after trying to stop fight over videoke in Cavite

A man celebrating his birthday on Sunday evening tragically lost his life in General Trias, Cavite, after being stabbed during an altercation that began over a videoke session.

The victim, identified as James Bryan Luna, was reportedly trying to diffuse a heated argument between his brother and a neighbor, who works as a bantay-bayan (community watchman), according to a report on GMA’s Saksi.

Luna’s partner, Allea Jane Villeza, said the incident started when the neighbor asked them to turn off the videoke at around 10 p.m., a request they complied with. However, tensions escalated when music was later played through a speaker by Luna’s brother, prompting the neighbor to confront them again.

The altercation turned physical, and the neighbor’s companion arrived wielding a katana. Villeza shared that Luna’s brother sustained severe stab wounds to his neck and kidney area and remains in critical condition.

“My partner just wanted to pacify the fight. But when he turned around, he was stabbed near his heart,” Villeza recounted in Filipino.

The suspects fled the scene and remain at large. Villeza appealed for justice, saying, “You will be found no matter what, so there’s no point in hiding. I just want justice for my partner.”

Authorities are continuing their search for the suspects.
