Gary Valenciano is on the mend after abruptly ending his concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Dec. 20 due to a health issue.
In a Facebook update on Dec. 21, his wife, Angeli Valenciano, reassured fans that the singer’s vitals, including his blood pressure, sugar levels, and creatinine, are normal. She added that Gary is now resting after experiencing severe vomiting. “He is ok. Just weak from all the throwing up,” Angeli shared.
Gary, who opened his two-night concert series “Pure Energy: One More Time” on Friday, initially told the audience that he was feeling unwell but still attempted to continue. After performing a few songs, he decided to cut the show short.
Angeli later explained that Gary had ingested something that triggered repeated vomiting just hours before the event. Despite his condition, the singer chose to perform while doctors remained on standby. In a video shared online, Gary assured his fans he was recovering, saying, “Hey guys, I’m getting better. I’ll be okay, don’t worry.”
The night wasn’t without other challenges. According to Angeli, a series of unfortunate incidents occurred, including a car accident involving Gary’s van after the show and injuries sustained by key members of their team before the concert.
The second night of the concert is set for Dec. 22, though Angeli said they are seeking wisdom on whether to proceed.
Gary, known as “Mr. Pure Energy,” has faced numerous health challenges in the past, including open-heart surgery and kidney cancer.
