A woman’s attempt to enhance her appearance turned into a nightmare after a failed rhinoplasty procedure not only deformed her nose but also endangered her life, costing her nearly P4 million in medical expenses.
In a recent Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho episode, Rosalie Igarashi, a Cavite native now recovering in Tokyo, Japan, shared her traumatic experience. In August 2023, Rosalie underwent a rhinoplasty procedure in the Philippines, priced at approximately P100,000. She had long desired to improve her “flat” nose despite objections from her family.
Prior to the surgery, Rosalie had tried nose fillers in Japan, a temporary procedure using dermal injections that only last a few months. Upon returning to the Philippines, she met a doctor who offered rhinoplasty, promising to use cartilage from her ear for the procedure.
On the day of the operation, Rosalie experienced delays, with the surgery starting at 7 PM instead of the scheduled noon, leaving her weak from fasting. Post-surgery, she felt nauseous and began vomiting blood. Despite her worsening condition, the doctor dismissed her symptoms as “normal side effects.”
Rosalie was eventually rushed to the hospital when her condition deteriorated further, struggling to breathe. Doctors found her blood had been poisoned due to a severe infection, leading to multiple organ complications. She was placed in the ICU, underwent dialysis, and at one point, her heart stopped for 16 minutes before being revived.
Upon removing the implant, Rosalie discovered that silicone, not cartilage as promised, had been used. A year later, she remains in fragile health with weakened immunity and has lost her confidence. The ordeal has left her unable to work in Japan and care for her children.
