Several construction workers sustained injuries after a bus accident in Khorfakkan on Monday evening, according to a statement from Sharjah Police. The exact number of casualties has not been disclosed.
The police, in a social media update, urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors and emphasized obtaining updates only from official sources. “We are dealing with an accident involving a bus carrying workers in Khorfakkan. Developments will be shared later,” they stated.
Social workers revealed that the accident occurred at a roundabout near the city’s entrance. The workers, all Indian nationals, were returning from a trip to Ajman, where they visited their company headquarters and shopped for food items.
Saleem, a social worker with the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), visited the injured workers at Khorfakkan Hospital. “Many are in a state of shock and have limited recollection of the incident,” he said in a Khaleej Times report.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident while coordinating with relevant agencies.
