The UAE is bracing for a significant temperature drop as cooler air masses sweep across the country, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). Beginning December 16, temperatures are expected to fall by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius, starting in the western regions before spreading nationwide.
Climate expert Dr. Ahmed Habib noted in a Khaleej Times report that the maximum temperature will settle around 25-26°C, while the minimum could dip as low as 12°C in internal areas and 8°C in the mountains.
Today’s weather is forecast to be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of rain in the northern areas and islands. By Monday night, humidity levels will rise, potentially leading to fog or mist formation in some inland regions.
The NCM has issued a yellow alert for strong north-westerly winds, which may reach speeds of up to 45 km/h. These winds are likely to cause blowing dust and sand, reducing visibility to below 2,500 meters in certain areas. The alert is in effect from Sunday night to midday Monday.
