Teen dies after being hacked by brother-in-law following argument in Antipolo

A 17-year-old boy was killed after being hacked by his brother-in-law during an argument after a Christmas party in Barangay Bagong Nayon, Antipolo. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday, according to a report by “24 Oras.”

Authorities said the victim and the suspect had been drinking and went home together from the party when a heated argument broke out. The police chief of the Antipolo Investigation and Operation Section, P/Captain Alnor de Vera Tagara, confirmed that the suspect hacked and stabbed the victim multiple times, including injuries to his head, chest, and back.

Before succumbing to his injuries, the victim identified the suspect to his mother. Relatives of the suspect later surrendered him to barangay officials. The weapon, a bolo, was recovered at the scene.

Contrary to the suspect’s claim that he acted in self-defense after the victim allegedly threatened him, the victim’s uncle stated that the altercation began as a drunken joke, with the victim playfully threatening to hack the suspect. This reportedly prompted the suspect to retaliate violently.

The suspect is currently in police custody and faces murder charges.

In a separate incident in Barangay San Jose, a 39-year-old man suffered facial injuries after being attacked with a bolo by his drinking companion during a dispute over a missing wallet. The victim received medical treatment and has since been discharged. Police are still searching for the suspect, who faces a frustrated homicide complaint.
