Fujairah Police have reported 10 fatalities resulting from 9,901 traffic accidents recorded from January to October this year, according to the latest statistics released on Tuesday. The accidents also caused 169 injuries, ranging from minor to severe, Gulf News reported.
October emerged as the deadliest month, with four fatalities and 26 injuries from 1,083 accidents—the highest monthly accident count in 2024. February and September recorded the lowest fatalities, with just one death each, while June saw the fewest injuries at 10.
To address road safety, Fujairah Police launched a month-long campaign titled “Safe Driving in Changing Weather Conditions,” aiming to educate drivers on precautionary measures during adverse weather such as fog, dust storms, rain, and floods. The initiative focuses on promoting defensive driving and ensuring vehicle readiness to prevent accidents.
Drivers have been urged to conduct regular vehicle checks, particularly on tires and lights, to prepare for changing weather. The police stressed adherence to traffic rules and emphasized avoiding risky behaviors like speeding or failing to maintain safe distances.
