Passenger arrested for attempting to divert domestic flight to the US

A passenger aboard a Volaris domestic flight in Mexico was arrested after allegedly breaking into the cockpit and attempting to divert the plane to the United States, according to reports.

The incident occurred during a flight from El Bajío to Tijuana, prompting an emergency landing at Guadalajara International Airport. Volaris confirmed that the crew followed established security procedures and handed the individual over to authorities upon landing.

The Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) stated that the passenger is currently under investigation. Witness accounts reported by FOX5 San Diego claim the man, traveling with his wife and children, allegedly threatened a flight attendant with a pen and tried to open the plane’s door, saying he would jump and take the attendant with him. Another passenger helped the crew restrain him.

Volaris assured that all passengers and crew were unharmed, and the aircraft remained undamaged. The flight resumed its journey to Tijuana after the incident.
