Salcedo Auctions is set to close its milestone season with a one-of-a-kind collaboration featuring the couture designs of international fashion icon Michael Cinco and the artistic works of Davao-based painter Caroline “Bing” Taojo. Titled Masterpieces in Motion, the silent auction, co-presented by Arthaland, will take place on Sunday, December 8, at an exclusive event graced by J. Paul Getty Museum curator Paul Martineau, The Diarist. PH reported.
Martineau, a renowned curator and author, will open the exhibit and deliver a talk on the Getty Museum’s collections and programs. The event will highlight the creative intersection of Cinco’s couture creations and Taojo’s visual artistry.
This marks Taojo’s first exhibit in Manila and her debut in a collaborative project. Known for her floral-themed paintings, the self-taught artist applied her designs to four of Cinco’s creations, blending her vibrant canvas works with his exquisite garments. Taojo, a former optometrist and now CFO of her family business, credits her artistic journey to early encouragement and a deep love for painting.
For Cinco, this collaboration aligns with his current inspirations, including Gustav Klimt. The show will feature 13 of his designs, including nine opulent ballgowns and four versatile pieces, showcasing the breadth of his artistry. Cinco, a favorite of global celebrities like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Lady Gaga, has gained international acclaim for his dramatic and luxurious fashion.
