The Makabayan Bloc is set to endorse a second impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte within the week, according to Kabataan Party-list Representative Raoul Manuel.
During a press conference on Tuesday, December 3, Manuel revealed that they have been in talks with various people’s organizations pushing for Duterte’s removal from office.
While the complaint is likely to be filed this week, Manuel explained that they could not provide a specific date as more groups have expressed interest in participating in the process.
“Tentatively, we are looking at filing the impeachment complaint within this week,” Manuel said. “However, we can’t confirm the exact date yet as leaders from different organizations are still working to be included in the complaints.”
Manuel emphasized the determination of various sectors, including youth leaders, urban poor groups, and the religious community, to join the formal proceedings.
“We aim to ensure their inclusion so that when we file the complaint, it will represent a broad coalition of groups and sectors,” Manuel added.
This development follows an initial impeachment complaint filed by civil society leaders at the House of Representatives on Monday, December 2, which was endorsed by Akbayan Representative Perci Cendaña.
Meanwhile, Malacañang released a statement on Tuesday denying any involvement in the filing of the complaints against the vice president.
