A 75-year-old newspaper vendor, identified as Narciso Fernandez, lost his life after being struck by two vans that failed to stop in Cainta, Rizal.
According to a GMA News report, the incident occurred early Thursday morning in Barangay Santo Niño, where Fernandez was reportedly on his way to pick up newspapers for sale. CCTV footage captured the moment when he was nearly across the street before being hit by an L-300 van. A second van ran over him shortly after, with neither driver stopping to assist.
Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene. His family, devastated by the loss, described him as healthy despite his age and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. They called on the drivers to surrender and urged authorities to bring justice to Fernandez’s death.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the vehicles involved and locate the drivers responsible.
