An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) has been tirelessly searching for her missing dog, Mikay, who was last seen near Al Rabeeh School in Muroor 21 street three weeks ago. Offering a reward of Dh 2,000, Cate dela Rosa’s emotional journey has resonated with many in the community.
Mikay, a small white dog with a distinctive black marking on her ear, went missing on the evening of November 2. According to Cate, Mikay ran out of a friend’s villa while being prepared for her usual walk. Despite immediate efforts to locate her, Mikay vanished into the streets.
“When I heard the news, I was in disbelief. I left work right away and was crying in the taxi,” Cate shared, describing the emotional toll. “It feels like I lost my child.”
Several sightings of Mikay have provided hope. A passerby shared a video of Mikay near Al Rabeeh School, and another resident reported seeing her playing with his dog. However, Mikay has remained elusive, often running away when approached.
Cate has been searching day and night, going street by street and distributing flyers. “I’ve met so many kind strangers who offered help, and their support has kept me going,” she said.
The search has also revealed the limitations of local assistance. “I went to the police, but they said they couldn’t help because it’s a dog. That broke my heart,” she admitted.
Cate believes Mikay might be trying to find her way home. “It feels like she’s so close but just out of reach,” she said. She continues to walk Mikay’s sister in hopes the familiar scent will lead Mikay back.
Cate remains unwavering in her mission to reunite with Mikay. “I will never stop looking for her. I just pray she comes home safe,” she said.
