Riders stranded midair as popular amusement park ride malfunctions

A thrilling day at Knott’s Berry Farm turned into an ordeal for 22 riders who found themselves stranded midair on the “Sol Spin” ride after it malfunctioned on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. at the Buena Park amusement park when the high-speed spinning ride suddenly stopped midcycle, leaving riders suspended with their legs dangling. Emergency protocols were immediately implemented, and all guests were safely evacuated by 4:30 p.m., a park spokesperson said in a Fox News report.

While no injuries were reported, two riders were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

The cause of the malfunction remains unknown. The “Sol Spin,” which rotates riders in multiple directions over six stories high, is described by the park as a ride “for the brave” due to its intense flips and rotations.

Knott’s Berry Farm has not disclosed when the ride will reopen.
