Belle Mariano tapped to sing Tagalized song for Disney’s ‘Moana 2’

Actress-singer Belle Mariano has been chosen to sing a Tagalized rendition of “Beyond,” a song from the upcoming Disney sequel Moana 2. The adapted version, titled Anong Daratnan?, will play during the film’s end credits when it hits Philippine theaters.

The original version of Beyond was crafted by Grammy-winning songwriters Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear. This marks a significant milestone as Belle’s performance will be the first Tagalized song featured in a Disney animated movie shown on the big screen.

“I’m so grateful because working with Disney has been a dream of mine,” Belle shared. “Moana is one of my favorite Disney characters, and I’m channeling her bravery in my rendition.”

Rachel Fong, Studio General Manager and Integrated Marketing Director of The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, highlighted the importance of the soundtrack in Moana’s success and expressed excitement about collaborating with local talent. “We hope fans in the Philippines will connect with the beautiful lyrics of ‘Beyond’ through Belle’s version and share Moana’s sense of adventure as she embarks on a new journey,” she said.

The story picks up three years after the original 2016 film, following Moana (voiced by Auli‘i Cravalho) on an unprecedented adventure with demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson). The sequel also features the voices of Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Scherzinger, and others.

While Beyond is already streaming on major platforms, Anong Daratnan? will be available starting November 22, ahead of Moana 2’s Philippine release.
