UAE residents warned as red alert issued for foggy conditions

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued a red alert on Tuesday, cautioning residents across the UAE as thick fog blanketed several areas. The weather authority warned that horizontal visibility could drop significantly, especially in coastal and internal regions, and advised that these conditions could persist until 9:30 AM.

Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to drive with caution, highlighting reduced visibility as a major concern. Through a post on X, they reminded drivers to adhere to fluctuating speed limits displayed on electronic road signs.

Fog was widespread in various parts of Abu Dhabi, as depicted on the NCM’s weather map. This foggy trend has been recurring as the country transitions into winter, with similar alerts issued over the weekend and on Monday morning.

Although the forecast for today suggests generally fair and partly cloudy weather, the night and early Wednesday morning are expected to be humid, with the possibility of fog or mist forming over certain areas.

Light to moderate winds are anticipated, while the sea is projected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.
