The United States has introduced expedited cross-border travel for UAE citizens through the ‘Global Entry’ programme, allowing streamlined entry for Emiratis holding a US visa at over 75 US ports. Announced in September, the programme was formally implemented by the UAE Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the US Department of Homeland Security.
According to a Khaleej Times report, this move aims to simplify travel procedures for UAE nationals, enhancing their experience at designated transit gates within US airports. The agreement, signed during UAE President Sheikh Mohamed’s official US visit, underscores the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Emirati applicants can register for the programme at https://ttp.dhs.gov/, where they will complete a background check before accessing automated verification systems at US ports, significantly cutting down wait times. However, travellers are reminded that a valid US entry visa is still required for admission.
