Michael Cinco joins Miss Universe 2024 judging panel alongside Catriona Gray as commentator

Renowned Dubai-based Filipino designer Michael Cinco is poised for a significant milestone as he takes a seat on the prestigious judging panel for the 73rd Miss Universe pageant. This November, Cinco will join a stellar lineup of international personalities, including entertainment icon Lele Pons, producer Emilio Estefan, Miss Universe 1978 Margaret Gardiner, entrepreneur Gianluca Vacchi, host Jessica Carrillo, fashion designer Eva Cavalli, and artist Romero Britto, in selecting this year’s titleholder. The event will be held on November 16 in Mexico (November 17 in the Philippines).

Expressing his gratitude, Cinco took to Instagram Stories, sharing Miss Universe’s announcement and thanking both the organization and “Lord” for this unique opportunity. “My Miss Universe journey began by dressing the extraordinary women who wore the crown — each one embodying beauty, strength, and purpose,” he wrote. “Today, I’m honored to take on a new role in this journey, helping to select the next inspiring queen.”

Having designed iconic gowns for past Miss Universe winners like Pia Wurtzbach, Iris Mittenaere, Demi-Leigh Tebow, and Andrea Meza, as well as global superstars including Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez, Cinco’s role in Miss Universe 2024 is a testament to his enduring influence on the global fashion scene.

Adding to the Philippines’ pride, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will once again lend her insights as a commentator. During a press conference for her upcoming Legacy Ball — an event raising funds for the non-profit Young Focus in Manila — Gray confirmed her return, stating, “Yes, I will be in Mexico in November, second week, to support Chelsea [Manalo] but also to serve as commentator once again. I am grateful for the trust of the Miss Universe Organization.”

Reflecting on her own Miss Universe journey, Gray shared, “It’s different being an audience member, then a candidate, and later watching the action unfold as a commentator. It’s a unique experience.” She also voiced her excitement for Chelsea Manalo, this year’s Philippine representative, expressing her “high hopes” that Manalo will bring pride to the Philippines.

The Miss Universe 2024 coronation night, hosted by Mario Lopez, promises to be a highlight in Mexico this November, with Brazil’s Romero Britto, Miss Universe South 1978 Margaret Gardiner, and Jessica Carrillo from Telemundo joining the selection committee.
