Want your balikbayan box to arrive by Christmas? Air cargo cutoff dates you need to know

With the holiday season approaching, many Filipinos in Dubai are eager to send gifts and essentials back home to the Philippines. If you missed the October cut-off for sea cargo, sending balikbayan boxes through air cargo is your best option to ensure packages reach your loved ones before Christmas Day.

Air cargo deadlines and estimated delivery times

To meet the Christmas deadline, Pinas Cargo has set specific air cargo cut-off dates for different regions in the Philippines. Here are the details:

Manila and Luzon (except inter-islands):

  • Cut-off Date: December 9, 2024
  • Estimated Delivery: On or before December 23, 2024

Visayas, Mindanao, and Luzon Inter-Islands:

  • Cut-off Date: November 25, 2024
  • Estimated Delivery: On or before December 23, 2024

For those who can collect their packages directly from the Pinas Cargo warehouse in Bulacan, the cut-off date is extended to December 23, 2024. However, Pinas Cargo noted that any boxes collected beyond these dates would likely arrive only after the holidays.

Restricted items for air cargo

To ensure smooth processing, it’s essential to be aware of items restricted from air cargo:

Valuable and financial items: Cash, counterfeit currency, and high-value items like gold, silver, and branded jewelry or watches are not permitted.

Flammable and hazardous materials: Compressed gases (such as aerosol sprays), flammable liquids (including alcohol), toxic chemicals, corrosives, and radioactive materials are strictly prohibited.

Electronics and dangerous goods: Batteries (such as AA, AAA, and lithium), engines, generators, and certain electronics face restrictions due to safety concerns.

Liquids and food products: Bulk liquids are typically restricted. Small, well-packaged toiletries are allowed in limited quantities, but perishable foods, homemade items, and alcoholic beverages face strict limitations.
