Palawan has once again earned global recognition, securing the 13th spot on Travel + Leisure’s 2024 World’s Best Islands list. The island also ranked fifth in the Best Island in Asia category, trailing behind the Maldives, Phu Quoc in Vietnam, Bali in Indonesia, and Koh Samui in Thailand.
The rankings were determined by over 186,000 readers of the travel magazine, who rated islands based on their natural attractions, beaches, activities, sights, culinary offerings, hospitality, and overall value.
Alongside Palawan, other Philippine destinations like Boracay, Mactan, and Panglao have been shortlisted for the 2025 World’s Best Awards.
Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed optimism, stating, “This award will inspire stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism and highlight the country’s natural beauty and hospitality.” Tourism Promotions Board COO Marga Nograles added that the accolade reflects Palawan’s exceptional beauty and the dedication of its people to providing remarkable experiences.
